While focusing on National Scenic Trails, Crown Trails Headwear by extension also promotes our National Parks, Monuments, Forests and Wildernesses as well as the multitude of communities that interface with these trails. Our team thrives on a passion to help protect and promote the natural wonders in the US. Besides being business professionals our team consists of avid backpackers with a passion to give back to the trails and communities we love.
Crown Trails Headwear is an innovative line of headwear, offering opportunities for retailers and consumers to support and participate in meaningful ways with our natural outdoor spaces. Our new line of hats and caps provide consumers with a way to show their support for their favorite trails and outdoor spaces. A portion of all sales goes back to the non-profit partners we work with to help them manage and protect the resource.
Whitney LaRuffa: National Sales Manager
Whitney joined the team in January 2017 to lead Crown Trails Headwear sales and licensing. Besides having over 16 years experience in sales and marketing through various industries, he is also an avid backpacker and thru-hiker. Whitney, better known in the outdoor world by his trail name “Allgood”, has been a passionate hiker since first thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail back in 1996. Through the years he has hiked various trails including his most recent thru-hike of the Continental Divide Trail which stretches 3,100 miles from Mexico to Canada. When not working hard to serve our customers’ needs, or out hiking with his dog Karluk, he volunteers his free time as the President of the American Long Distance Hiking Association-West. When we asked Whitney why he was excited to work for Crown Trails Headwear he responded, “I can see no better way to combine my love of sales and business with my passion for hiking and America’s scenic trails.”
Bob Wilson: Founder
Bob relocated with his family to Silver City, NM in 1999 to live near the Gila and Aldo Leopold Wilderness Areas, and to enjoy an outdoor-based lifestyle. He has over 25 years of sales experience as an independent collegiate headwear sales representative. He first became inspired with the idea of creating Crown Trails Headwear in 2015, while volunteering with a community effort which designated Silver City as the first gateway community along the Continental Divide Trail.
“Crown Trails Headwear is a get up, stand up, take a hike initiative. We are promoting trails, outdoor education, recreation and well being, as well as a Leave No Trace land ethic, “ Wilson says. “I’m very excited to be launching this dynamic new line of headwear that partners with and supports nonprofit trail organizations.”
